Pastor Rusty Parsons
Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and salvation. . .
I love the Lord our God and His Son, our Savior. God is our “light”. He leads us through our hours of darkness with His love, guidance and truth while providing hope for our living. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, is our Savior, who died on the cross for our sins that we might walk in the Light.
I was raised in a Friends Meeting near Greentown, Indiana, a farming community. My Father went be with the Lord when I was one year old. My Mother and four older brothers assumed responsibilities for our dairy farm. My church family and Quaker Haven Camp played an important role in my life. It was at Senior High Camp I gave my heart to Christ and asked Him to be my Savior. I became an active member of New Salem Friends in 1971. I attended Purdue University believing I would return to the family farm but the Lord had other plans for my life. I completed my undergraduate degree from Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio in 1981. I married my college sweetheart, Darlene Beck, the same year and began my pastoral career. In 1991, I completed my seminary degree from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio with emphasis on ministering to families. After serving three Quaker congregations in Ohio, we answered God’s call in 1998 to come and serve Friends congregations in North Carolina Yearly Meeting. Currently, we are in our first year serving Archdale Friends and sense God presence directing us daily.
Darlene and I are grateful for a loving family. We have three grown children, all married and four grandchildren. We live on a small farm outside of Randleman, NC and enjoy gardening, canning, entertaining, reading and traveling. Darlene is an elementary school teacher in Franklinville and helps children with reading. We are grateful to serve a wonderful Lord whose unmeasurable grace is evidenced every day. We ask you to consider joining us at Archdale Friends where God is worshiped and praised.
Blessings in Christ,
